How do I guide someone?

There are no hard and fast rules on how to guide someone, but you should always ask the person you are guiding what they would like.

Information about guiding blind and partially sighted people can be found in our 'How to guide' leaflet:

If you guide someone on a regular basis, it could be worth you attending a course on guiding or visual awareness (which usually involves some guiding). Your local society for blind or partially sighted people may run courses and will be able to give you some pointers about guiding.

You can find your nearest local society the Sightline Directory by entering your postcode and the search words 'local society'.
