How can I get extra support during a power cut?

Each energy network keeps a Priority Service Register (PRS) of people who may need additional assistance during a power cut.

Your energy network operator is the company that manages the electricity meters in your are and is not the company that you pay your bills to. You can find out who your energy network operator is and their contact details via the 105 website.

The six Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) that operate regionally and the Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) that operate across multiple regions are as follows:

  • Electricity Northwest (North West England)
  • Northern Powergrid (Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire)
  • Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (Central Southern England & Northern Scotland)
  • SP Energy Networks (Cheshire, Mersyside, North Wales, North Shropshire and Central & Southern Scotland)
  • UK Power Networks (London, South East & East of England)
  • Western Power Distribution (the Midlands, South West England & South Wales)

  • Energetics Electricity
  • ESP Electricity
  • GTC
  • Harlaxton Energy Networks Limited
  • Peel Utilities
  • UK Power Distribution

You will need to contact them direct and complete a registration form.

Each network will offer different support depending on your circumstances.
