What are the keyboard shortcuts for Windows?

For many people with sight problems the most effective way to use a computer is with keyboard commands (also called shortcuts or hotkeys).

We have put together a list of keyboard shortcuts for the Windows 7 and Windows 8.

You can also get a list of shortcuts for an application by using its help option (usually by pressing F1 or going to the Help menu) and browsing the contents or searching for "keyboard", "shortcut" or "accessibility".

You can get lots more help using Windows through Microsoft's Disability Answer Desk. They provide free advice over the phone or through online chat, and get help troubleshoot problems you are having with Microsoft programmes:

  • +1 (800) 936-5900 - please note this is a USA phone number so charges apply
  • chat online - free

Visit our website's Using technology section for more information or our Technology training and support page for more shortcut downloads.
