How do I prepare for my social care assessment?
It is important to spend some time thinking about your assessment beforehand to make sure you end up receiving all the support you need.
Think carefully about all the help you need at home or when out and about, and the sorts of things you find difficult to do, or don't do because it is too hard. It might be easier to remember these instances by keeping a diary for a week or so before your assessment.
The things you might consider describing during your assessment which you have difficulty with could include:
- cleaning and keeping your house tidy
- cooking or eating and drinking
- getting in and out of bed
- looking after your money
- communicating with people and handling post
Do not underestimate your needs! The more information you are able to provide about the help you need, the more help you are likely to receive.
