How can I get the information supplied with pills and medicine in an accessible format?

X-PIL is now being run by emc. emc ensures that patient information leaflets supplied with medicines are available in accessible formats such as braille, large print and audio.

Individuals wishing to listen to and/or request an available leaflet in an alternative format can contact the Medicines Information Line or visit the website:

You will need:

  • The name of the medicine
  • The medicine's product code number (normally a 9 figure number prefaced with the letters PL or EU, which can be found on the medicine box)

If you are a Pharmaceutical company and would like to know more about how the service works and costs, or are interested in joining you can contact the operating company, Datapharm:
