My child is starting nursery soon. What education support will be available to them?

If your child has started nursery and you have concerns about the support they're receiving, ask for a meeting with the nursery and the Sensory Visual Impairment Service.

Talk though your concerns and ask them to explain how they are supporting your child's needs. The Sensory Visual Impairment Service may need to put in some training for staff, or it could be a matter of how the support is organised. At the end of the meeting, ensure there is a record of what has been agreed and a follow up meeting date arranged.

Further information can be found on our early years webpage within our education and learning section and in our Focus on Foundation guide:

The guide offers practical ideas for the successful inclusion of children with sight loss in early years settings including reception classes.
