How do I support a blind or partially sighted child in my nursery?

If a young child with vision impairment has just started in your nursery, the parent will be the best person to talk to first.

You should also have support from the local authority's Vision Impairment Service. The vision impairment team may put in place some training for your staff, suggest resources that you can use or work directly with the child.

You can find out more information about supporting blind and partially sighted children in their early years in our teaching and learning guidance section.
