I'm thinking of going to university, what should I do?

Going to university is a really exciting time, especially as it may even involve moving away from home for the first time.

It's important to think ahead to make sure that you choose the right course, the right university and most importantly to make sure that everything is in place and ready for your first day. This means you can start your course without having to worry about any issues to do with your equipment and support needs and you can concentrate on making friends and settling in.

You should consider:

  • Discussing your course options with a career adviser
  • Looking at the websites of different universities
  • Thinking about the location and size of where you would like to study
  • Attending an open day or arrange a visit

Further information including advice from other young people on how to get started can be found on TPT's Student support webpages.
