What benefits am I entitled to as a blind or partially sighted person?
There are a number of benefits and concessions that you may be entitled to if you are blind or partially sighted, whether you are of working age or older, in work or out of work. You will need to make a claim for each of these benefits, as you will not automatically receive any of them.
Some of these benefits are meant to help people with the extra costs of a disability such as sight loss. These include Disability Living Allowance (for people aged under 16), Personal Independence Payment (for people aged 16-64) and Attendance Allowance (for people aged over 65 when they first claim). These benefits are not means-tested, so how much income you earn does not affect your entitlement to them.
