Can I have my glasses paid for?

No, unfortunately you cannot get free glasses, lenses or contact lenses if you are blind or partially sighted.

You can, however, get NHS vouchers that will help with much of the cost of glasses or contact lenses if you are under 16, under 18 and in full-time education, need complex lenses, or receive certain means-tested benefits. The value of your voucher will depend on the strength or complexity of your prescription.

You will be asked to show your proof of entitlement to an NHS voucher to your optician before they can issue it to you.
