My child has been diagnosed with sight loss – how can you help?

If your child has been recently diagnosed with a sight problem, take a look at our information for parents of blind or partially sighted children and the Blind Children UK Starting Point guides.

You can contact us at helpline@rnib.org.uk or on 0303 123 9999 (Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 5:30pm) for further information.

It is also important to ensure you are linked into the local authority sensory (VI) team. You can search for your local team on our Sightline Directory. They can support you with understanding your child's eye condition and offering support to you and your child around their development and educational needs. They will work with you at home or at the nursery or school setting.
