Is it worth registering as blind or partially sighted?

Yes, it's definitely worth registering your sight loss with your local authority, although the choice is yours. If you do register, you may be eligible for a number of concessions and it will be easier for you to prove your sight problem when claiming certain benefits. These include income tax allowance, free NHS sight tests, car parking concessions and travel schemes.

Further information on how to register your sight loss and what you are entitled to can be found on our registering as sight impaired and benefits and support web pages.
