What is rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation is help provided by your local authority, or a local organisation acting on their behalf, to learn or re-learn some of the essential daily living and mobility skills which have been affected by your sight loss.

The sorts of activities your rehabilitation officer can help you re-learn include:

  • Cooking and preparing food
  • Cleaning and looking after your home
  • Washing and getting dressed
  • Moving around and getting out and about

Rehabilitation should be given in addition to any longer-term care needs your local authority helps you with.
