Can I wash my hair after an operation on my eye?

It would be best to avoid getting soapy water in your eye after an operation until your eye has healed.

It's best to get someone to help you, so you can wash your hair backwards (like at the hairdressers), so that the dirty or soapy water from your hair is less likely to get into your eye. This will help prevent any infection. This advice may be different depending on the type of surgery you have had.

If you are worried about this or any other activity after surgery, ask your ophthalmologist (eye doctor) or the nurse at your next appointment.
