How can I make payments using an app on my smartphone?

If you have a smartphone or tablet, you can use a payment app to make electronic payments for goods and services.

We have reviewed the accessibility of a range of payment apps, so that you can decide if paying with apps is right for you. The apps we have reviewed are:

  • Barclays Pingit
  • Cash on Tap by EE
  • PayPal
  • Quicktap by Orange

You can read full reports on each app on our paying with apps webpage.

Apple have also introduced a new contactless payment method called Apple Pay, available on newer iPhones and Apple Watches.

We have also reviewed a range of banking apps.
